Greetings and happy fall!

October 2025

Greetings everyone, and happy fall! Here at the Fourth D Club, we’re preparing for our annual luncheon fundraiser at 11:45 a.m. on October 14th at the DoubleTree Hotel. You are invited! Our speaker, Kate L., will share her inspiring story of finding sobriety within the support of a club community. Great food will be served and, most importantly, our community will come together to celebrate!

Housekeeping: in addition to Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Al-Anon, and Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA), a CoDA (Codependents Anonymous) meeting now meets at the Club on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. Several folks have asked about Gamblers Anonymous and Nicotine Anonymous. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to help start one, this is it! Email me at suzanne@4thdmissoula.org and I’ll help you get it going.

If you haven’t yet checked out The Fourth D Club’s podcast Having Had a Spiritual Awakening, now’s the time! With my cohost Sarah B., I talk with fellow 12-steppers from different programs. Unlike the usual “what it was like, what happened, and what it’s like now” format (which we love), our focus is how—having had a spiritual awakening as the result of working the steps—we’re making our lives manageable today. After all, addiction is but a symptom, and the work is ongoing.

In our most recent episode, Justin D. shares how he stayed clean after breaking his back in four places—without prescription painkillers—only a year into recovery. Kate L. joins us to tackle the dreaded “outside topics” (aren’t they all?), Jay shares how she no longer self-abandons, and Dan K. talks about the gifts that came from hitting bottom. Find these episodes anywhere you listen to podcasts.

Up and Coming! In partnership with the Red Willow Learning Center, the Club will host a mindfulness meditation course addressing trauma in the body. Classes will be held weekly, free of charge, beginning mid-October (times TBD). Please email me if you’re interested.

Remember, in a 12-step fellowship you never have to do this work alone. In my experience, this includes all 12-step programs. We are here for each other—we are in this together.

Warmly,
Suzanne Garcia Pino
Executive Director
